Nam Theun 1 Power Company Limited (NT1PC) successfully underwent its 2025 Quality and Environmental Management Systems (QEMS) Surveillance Audit, conducted by SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance) from April 22nd to 25th, 2025, at its Pakkading site.

The audit, which focused on the ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems) and ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management Systems) standards, aimed to determine the conformity and effectiveness of NT1PC’s management systems. Specifically, the audit assessed the company’s ability to meet statutory, regulatory, and contractual requirements, ensure the achievement of specified objectives, and identify areas for potential improvement.

Having achieved ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications on June 2nd, 2024, demonstrating a strong commitment to quality and environmental stewardship, this year’s surveillance audit marks the second year of ongoing efforts to maintain these high operational standards.

The four-day audit involved comprehensive reviews and site tours, covering various aspects of NT1PC’s operations. The agenda included management interviews; review of applicable requirements; operational control site tours; maintenance management; upstream and downstream site tours; PKD residential areas and facilities; environmental management review; corporate social and resettlement review; compliance obligation and evaluation; and management system review.

At the conclusion of the audit, SGS auditors provided NT1PC with several Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs), requesting the team to respond with actions aimed at further enhancing the company’s operations.

NT1PC remains committed to maintaining its ISO certifications and continuously improving its quality and environmental management systems to ensure sustainable and responsible operations.
