Temporary Road Repair for Huayhoy Village Agricultural Land

According to the Nam Theun 1 Hydropower Plant Project’s Resettlement and Restoration Plan, agricultural land (including cultivation and livestock areas) was identified and allocated to all resettled Huayhoy Village households. This was part of the project’s commitment to ensure that villagers could access and utilize land for agricultural production and animal husbandry.

Access road to agriculture land is an essential component of farmland development. However, due to the road’s dirt surface and the mountainous terrain, years of rainfall erosion and regular use have significantly degraded the route. Small erosion trenches have gradually widened and deepened, making it increasingly difficult for villagers to travel between their homes and farmland.

To address this issue, in early October 2025, NT1PC engaged an external contractor to carry out temporary road repairs at eight locations — six along agricultural land and two near livestock areas — to improve access for villagers during the harvest period.

Please note that this intervention is a temporary measure. A more durable, long-term repair is planned after the 2025 rainy season. In the meantime, we hope that this initial effort will facilitate villagers’ travel, reduce the risk of accidents, and shorten travel time between the village and farmland.
