On late December 2025, Nam Theun 1 Power Company Limited (NT1PC), led by Mr. Bounnhang Phengsouvanh, Advisor on Government of Laos Relations, together with the NT1PC team, officially handed over the 2025 Nam Theun 1 Community Development Fund (CDF), valued at USD 1,000,000 to the Government of Laos. The fund was received by Mr. Khamwaen Panyanouvong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Bolikhamxay Provincial Administrative Committee, and Chairman of the Nam Theun 1 Community Development Fund Management Committee.
The Nam Theun 1 Community Development Fund is an annual obligation of NT1PC to the Government of Laos throughout the 27-year concession period following the Commercial Operation Date (COD).
The fund aims to support development projects in the two project-targeted districts—Pakkading and Viengthong—under the supervision of the Nam Theun 1 Community Development Fund Management Committee.
In 2025, the CDF was utilized to support payments for development projects initiated in 2022, including:
- Asphalt Road Construction Project in Paksan District;
- Solar Street Light Installation Project in Viengthong District, Bolikhamxay Province;
- Asphalt Road Construction Project in Phonchaleun Village, Pakkading District, Bolikhamxay Province.
Looking ahead, NT1PC hopes that the Community Development Fund will continue to be utilized effectively to support the growth of local communities. Our focus remains on enhancing local livelihoods and contributing to positive, sustainable long-term improvements in the quality of life.
