In a proactive measure to safeguard its operations and personnel, the Nam Theun 1 Power Company Limited (NT1PC) recently conducted comprehensive training on the use of firefighting equipment for its staff and contractors. The training, held on May 24, 2025, at the Nam Theun 1 Company’s Pakkading Site, aimed to bolster readiness against the significant threat of bushfires, particularly during the dry season.

The Nam Theun 1 dam, situated amidst extensive forestland, faces a consistently high risk of bushfires. Such events pose a severe danger, with the potential for widespread damage to the dam infrastructure and serious harm to individuals working within the facility. Recognizing this critical vulnerability, NT1PC emphasized the importance of robust protective measures and damage mitigation strategies.

The training session, led by Deputy Site Management Mr. Sitthisack Vongkhamheng, commenced with in-depth instruction on bushfire knowledge, awareness, and protection techniques. Participants were also guided on identifying high-risk areas to exercise heightened caution. Furthermore, the team was trained in operating the new tools to become proficient. This hands-on approach guarantees that, in the event of an emergency, the teams are well-versed in the proper and effective use of the equipment.

Equipping its staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to combat bushfires is a crucial component of NT1PC’s commitment to operational safety and environmental protection.
