Site Visit by Delegations from the Ministry of Energy and Mines June 2, 2019, Pakkading District, Bolikhamxay Province
On the 2nd of June 2019, delegates from the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM), which included officials from the Department of Energy Business (DEB) and the Department of Energy Management (DEM), visited the Nam Theun 1 Hydropower Project site in Pakkading District, Bolikhamxay Province to follow-up on the ongoing project activities.
The delegation, which was led by the Vice Minister of MEM, H.E. Mr. Thongphat Inthavong, and included the Director General of DEM, Mr. Sychath Boutsakittirath, arrived at the NT1 project site on Sunday morning and were cordially received by the NT1 staff at the site office.

During the site visit, the delegates visited the Rolled Compacted Concrete (RCC) Up-stream Pre-Coffer Dam to observe the ongoing construction works and were later briefed by the NT1PC team on the current overall progress of the project, including the construction works of the main dam body, hydroelectrical works, and transmission lines, along with the resettlement works and environmental monitoring activities.
H.E. Mr. Thongphat Inthavong expressed his appreciation towards the NT1 Project team for the tremendous effort that has been invested in the project and for the concern that has been shown towards the project affected people and the environment as evidenced by the comprehensiveness of the resettlement action plan and the mitigative environmental measures taken by NT1PC.
