On the morning of the 11th of March, 2019, the First Steering Committee Meeting of the NT1 Hydropower Project was officially convened at the Administrative Office of Pakkading District, Bolikhamxay Province. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Dr. Khammany Inthirath, Minister of Energy and Mines, and was also attended by H.E. Mr. Bounpone Sisoulath, Chairperson of the Economics, Technology and Environment Committee, H.E. Dr. Saynakhone Inthavong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, along with representatives from various relevant ministries, the Administrative Office of Bolikhamxay Province, the Administrative Office of Pakkading and Viengthong District, and Nam Theun 1 Power Company Limited amongst others.

Multiple topics were discussed and reported on during the meeting, including the progress of the project implementation, resettlement works, environmental management, and the facilities and difficulties associated with the implementation of the project.

After the conclusion of the meeting, the attendees paid a visit to the project’s construction site to monitor the progress of the construction works, which is currently at approximately 50% completion rate.
