On the 27th of February, 2019, the Deputy Prime Minister of Lao PDR., H.E. Mr. Sonexay Siphandone and his delegation paid an official visit to the Nam Theun 1 hydropower project site located in Pakkading District, Bolikhamxay Province to monitor the current project’s progress.

On arrival, the Deputy PM received a warm reception and was given a presentation by the NT1PC staff about the construction progress of the project, which is now approximately 50% complete and is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2021, and also on the resettlement actions taken by NT1PC for the Project Affected People. The Deputy PM was afterward given a tour of the site to observe the project’s construction works, including a tour of the upstream RCC-cofferdam and the powerhouse.
The Deputy PM congratulated the NT1 project development team on the healthy progress of the project, which is in line with the scheduled target and has additionally commended the team’s utilization of advanced and modern technologies for the project.
