PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Nam Theun 1 Hydropower Project (NT1HPP) is a 177-metre-high dam located on the Nam Kading River in Bolikhamxay Province. The dam has a total installed capacity of 650 MW, of which a total of 520 MW will be exported to Thailand and 130 MW will be channeled towards domestic consumption.
The project is being developed by the Nam Theun 1 Power Company Limited (NT1PC), who was granted the concession by the Government of Lao PDR to build and operate the Nam Theun 1 hydroelectric dam for the first 27 years of its operation.
NT1PC is committed to a vision of national development that is environmentally sustainable and socially responsible. We work closely with our shareholder companies, the Government of Laos, international institutions, the project affected people, and other involved stakeholders to realize this vision.
